C1-10P, commonly known as "Chopper," was a C1-series astromech droid with masculine programming who was active in the early years of the Galactic Empire. He was a member of a Lothal rebel cell led by the Twi'lek captain Hera Syndulla and the Jedi Kanan Jarrus that fought against the Empire. He resembles a modified R5- Unit astromech. He was responsible for maintaining the Ghost, a modifiedVCX-100 light freighter which served as the rebel cell's main base of operations. During his time with the Lothal rebels, Chopper took part in numerous raids and missions against Imperial targets. Due to his old age and lack of regular maintenance, Chopper developed a cantankerous and mischievous personality. Despite these personality flaws, he was a loyal member of his rebel crew.
Chopper and R2 quickly became friends almost immediately, despite their differences in attitude.
Chopper and Hera worked closely together on the Ghost. The two seemed to share neutral feelings for one another. Additionally, Hera was also capable of understanding Chopper, something none of the other rebels could manage.
Chopper and Ezra first met when Ezra was sneaking around in the Ghost near Kanan's room. Though Chopper barely knew him, he seemed to agree with Hera to go rescue him when he was captured by the Empire. Chopper loves to play pranks on both Ezra and Zeb forming a rivalry between them. Though over time it's shown that the two have formed a friendship as seen when they were trying to rescue Kanan and Chopper went along with his plan and Ezra having faith in him that he will succeed.
- Chopper's appearance is directly inspired from concept artist Ralph McQuarrie's original Episode IV design sketches for R2-D2.
- A real-life version of Chopper was made, for Star Wars Weekends, and other events.
- The creators of the show stated if R2 is your favorite dog, Chopper is your favorite cat.
