Captain Aidan (Japanese: ラッセル Russell) is a character in the Pokémon anime who first appeared in The Pokémon Water War.
History[]
Captain Aidan is a firefighter who uses the Squirtle evolution line as a search and rescue team on Ascorbia Island. His main team consists of multiple Wartortle, of which the leader wears a scarf and has a rivalry with Ash's Squirtle.
In The Fire-ing Squad!, he came to Johto with Team Wartortle to compete in the Fire and Rescue Grand Prix. He and Team Wartortle were the defending champions. They made it all the way to the finals again, only to be defeated by Officer Jenny and the Squirtle Squad, with help of the Squad's former leader Ash's Squirtle.

| Captain's Aidan's Team Squirtle is part of his firefighting squad and are used to tackle tight space rescues and fight small fires. They first appeared training on a jungle-gym like box where the Squirtle can climb around and practice their maneuverability. They were then seen tackling a blaze at a building which was on fire and, with the help of Teams Wartortle and Blastoise, were able to put it out.

| Captain's Aidan's Team Blastoise is part of his firefighting squad and are used to tackle large-scale fires. They first appeared training using their powerful cannons to shoot large amounts of water. They were then seen tackling a blaze at a building which was on fire and, with the help of Teams Squirtle and Wartortle, were able to put it out while also and helping the leader of Team Wartortle and Ash's Squirtle get into the building to save a child, using their cannons.

Team Wartortle made their first appearance in The Pokémon Water War. While on Ascorbia Island, a fire broke out at an old warehouse. Ash and Misty had their Pokémon attempt to put the fire out, but it did little to stop the flames. When Team Wartortle arrived, they quickly put the fire out. However, the leader and Squirtle soon developed a rivalry. Squirtle wanted to prove to the head Wartortle that it was just as strong as its evolved form. It proved it when the leader and Squirtle worked together to save a little boy from a burning building. It seemed that after the rescue, the rivalry was settled.
However, it started back up again in The Fire-ing Squad!. During a Pokémon firefighting competition, Squirtle was reunited with not only Team Wartortle, but also its old friends from the Squirtle Squad. Team Wartortle believed they were going to be victorious in the competition, but once again Squirtle refused to be beaten by its evolved form. With its help, the Squirtle Squad won the competition.
Team Wartortle hasn't been heard from since Johto, and it is unknown what happened to them since then.
