Samson is a Biblical figure said to have been granted super strength from God and performed heroic feats. At some point, he teamed up with Atlas and became a time traveler and adventurer. Samson claims to have fought across three galaxies and countless centuries. However, after teaming up with Superman several times, Samson was seen as a magnet for trouble. After parting ways again, Samson was off to the year 2061 to retrieve a treasure he hid on Halley's Comet.
He and Atlas then stole the Jewels of Atom-Hotep from Ultrasphinx in 80th century B.C. and traveled to the 21st century to trick Superman into defeating the monster. Samson goaded Krull into invading the surface world and the two enjoyed a quick battle. He hurled Krull into space rather than show mercy. After Superman cleaned up their mess, they still challenged Superman to an arm wrestling match. The duo lost and had their arms broken. Complying with the terms of the match, they departed the 21st century.
