Stephen William Hawking (born January 8, 1942) is one of the 20th and 21st century's great minds. A theoretical physicist, Hawking was stricken with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in the early 1960s, yet since that time managed to write many books including A Brief History of Time, which was a best-seller.

The recurring character Steve is based on him.

In "Peter, Peter, Caviar Eater", he is hired to help Chris Griffin with his homework.

In "April in Quahog", he is interviewed by Tricia Takanawa about a black hole dooming the Earth, and afterwards reveals he has faked his illness.

In "The Splendid Source", it is revealed he worked at The Source of All Dirty Jokes.
