Sandman aka Wesley Dodds spent his childhood in Asia where he learned herbalism, martial arts, and origami. Dodds took on origami, reading, writing, poetry, and philosophy as hobbies. After his father, Edward Dodds, died, he inherited a vast fortune made from investments. One night, Dodds had a vivid dreams about crimes. He decided to use his wealth to fund a state-of-the-art laboratory and invented an arsenal, including a Wirepoon, Gas Gun, and Silicoid Gun. Dodds wore a World War I era gas mask and took on the codename Sandman.
Sandman fought crime and garnered a reputation as a genius and brilliant detective. His mode of transportation was a black 1938 Plymouth Coupe. Sandman was also a member of the Justice Society of America and decades later, attended the mixer hosted by the Justice League International.
